Building Bridges in the Neighbourhood

Together with our community partners, Spectre de Rue, Anonyme, and Maison Amaryllis, we were delighted to host a neighbourhood 5 à 7 at Parc François-Martineau.

The evening was about more than free hot dogs—it was about building relationships. Our goal was to open our doors to our neighbours, encourage conversation, and help break down the stigma that too often surrounds people experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, or substance use.

Though the weather was a bit tempermental, we were thrilled to see such a wonderful turnout. Neighbours, friends, volunteers, and members from our organizations came together to enjoy a bite to eat, share stories, laugh, and connect. It was a reminder that strong communities are built through simple moments of kindness and genuine human connection.

We were also grateful to welcome SPVM Officer Cynthia, who spent the evening answering questions, listening to concerns, and engaging in meaningful conversations with community members.

One of the highlights of the evening was a beautiful dance performance by participants in our community dance workshop, led by professional dancer Ariana Pirela Sanchez. Their performance celebrated creativity, confidence, and the power of self-expression, earning warm applause from everyone gathered.

Events like this reflect our mission of building community where everyone belongs. We are deeply thankful to our partners, volunteers, neighbours, and members who made the evening such a success. Together, we continue to create spaces where barriers are broken, relationships are formed, and every person is welcomed with dignity and respect.
